El Rioplatense

Es mi primera noche en Argentina, mi madre anfitriona se acerca a mí y dice "Vos hablais espanol?"

Mi primer pensamiento: ¿en qué idioma está hablando? La respuesta sería: Rioplatense español.

Al principio buscando una explicación, fui a un sitio web llamado VeinteMundos para ayuda. Describen el español de Argentina así:
<< El español hablado en la Argentina se caracteriza por Rioplatense, el dialecto que se encuentra principalmente en la cuenca del Río de la Plata (Buenos Aires se encuentra en esta región). Sin embargo, hay varios otros acentos que se encuentran en todo el país. Si bien existen algunas influencias de las lenguas amerindias, el español en Argentina se ha visto afectado principalmente por las lenguas europeas, especialmente el italiano (especialmente en la entonación, como el énfasis en la última sílaba de conjugaciones de la segunda persona: vos querés). Su descripción aclaró por qué no podía entender mi anfitrión madre la primera noche. ¡Ella estaba usando un pronombre que nunca había usado antes!

Debido a esto, decidí hacer un seguimiento de algunas frases argentinas de las que nunca había oído hablar:

• che – an interjection used mostly to refer to ‘friend’, ‘pal’, ‘man’, but also as an exclamation or to emphasize understanding such as ‘right’, ‘yes’
• se armo un quilombo – it was a disaster 
• te lo digo posta – I’m telling you seriously
• vos sabés – you know 
• boludo – idiot, stupid, good-for-nothing. 
• boliche – a nightclub
• bardear – to make a mess
• zarpado – amazing, extraordinary, big

It's my first night in Argentina, my host mom approaches me and says "Vos hablais espanol?"

My first thought: what language is she speaking? The answer would be: Rioplatense Spanish.

At first looking for an explanation, I went to a website called VeinteMundos for help. They describe Argentina's spanish like this:

Their description clarified why I couldn't understand my host mom the first night. She was using a pronoun I had never used before!

Because of this, I decided to keep track of some Argentinian phrases that I had never heard of before... (see the list above!)
